Week 6 News

This week in 2 Navy:

Workshops
In reading and writing workshops we are focusing on our reading strategies and retell skills. Daily we are completing writing tasks to build our writing stamina.  Our focus this week was adding adjectives to make our writing sparkle.  We will use our high 5 hand to check our sentences.  Our shared text this week was Pamela Allen favourite 'Fat Ferdie'.  Ask your child what did Ferdie end up eating? Our grammar focus was adjectives.  In Maths we are continuing daily number fact practice, number patterns and exploring the concept of time.

Religion
We continue to build on our understanding of who God is and what creation means to me for our Stewardship of Creation Unit.  We will reflect our understanding this week through illustration and prayer.

We have also begun our Caritas Appeal for 2017.  The children and I have set a goal of $75 to help buy a pig for a Philippine family.  Please help us to reach our goal. Thank you for your generosity.

Unit Work
This week we began our Science Unit.  We will be exploring lifecycles, in particular the life cycle of a mealworm.  The children will watch the mealworms as they move through their lifecycle and record their observations.

Special Event

The last week of this Term I will be taking one week of Long Service Leave.  Due to my absence, I will be having Showcase Night on Wednesday the 22nd of March from 3pm - 4pm, in the classroom.  The afternoon will run the same as a normal Showcase evening.  Remember this is a time to view your child's wonderful learning. If you would like to discuss their learning please contact me to organise an appropriate time.  I understand that this may not suit everyone and to allow for an evening session, the classroom will be open on Wednesday the 29th of March as per the rest of the school.
