Homework

• Homework tasks for Year 2 will be set at the beginning of each Term. 
• It is an important part of the continuation of learning between school and home.
• The homework will be given out on a Monday and needs to be returned on the following Monday.
• There are two activities to complete each week in their homework book from the homework grid.
• The children will also be expected to complete the daily activities of:
  •  Home reader
  • Sight word practice (Ideas are provided)
  • Counting Practice (1000 grid is provided)

Sight Words

Each week your child will target 5 sight words to learn by sight.  It is important they learn all 200 words by sight.

In your child's reading folder you will find a list of all sight words. The highlighted words mean they know the word by sight. Any focus words for the week will be circled. 

Counting

Using the 100 grid glued in the back of your child's homework book, ask your child to verbally count forwards and backwards in 1's, 2's, 5's, 10's and 3’s. 

Home Reader

Your child's home reader will be changed daily.  Readers will only be changed if you have signed the Reading log.

Each term a grid of weekly activities is glued into the front of your child's homework book.  Please ensure these weekly activities are completed in their homework book.
