Week 2 News

 PLEASE RETURN PORTFOLIOS ASAP

The Parent Helper roster will stay the same for this Term.  We begin on Monday! If you can are able to help this term, please contact me!  Thank you for all your support!

This week in 2 Navy:

Workshops
In reading and writing workshops we are focusing on our reading strategies and questioning and inferencing skills. Daily we are completing writing tasks to build our writing stamina with flash writing.  We are following a writing process this term to create Information Reports.  This week the children wrote an Information Report on Mealworms. We will use our high 5 hand to check our sentences.  Our shared text this week was Simpson and Duffy.  Ask your child what Simpson and Duffy did during the war? Our grammar focus was nouns, verbs and adjectives.  In Maths we are continuing daily number fact practice, number patterns and we explored the concept of 3D shapes.

Religion
We have started to explore what a covenant is.  We are learning about the Bible and in particular the stories we find in the Old Testament.  This week we explored the Old Testament Story of the 10 Commandments, found in the book of Exodus

Unit Work
This week we explored what a Monument is and what is in a monument?  Children worked on writing their own inquiry questions about monuments?

Donations
As described in our homework book, the children will be designing and creating a ANZAC Monument this term.  Can I please request that throughout the term you send in cardboard boxes, rolls, and any other craft equipment that we will be able to use to construct our Monuments.
Thank you for your support.
