Week 6 News

Things to remember

Book Club
Book Club was sent home this week.  All orders are to be completed online and the closing date is Thursday the 15th of March!

Library Bags need to come to school every Tuesday!!!

This week in Year 2:

Workshops
In reading and writing workshops we are focusing on our reading strategies and retell skills. Daily we are completing writing tasks to build our writing stamina.  We are following a writing process this term to create a Recount. Each class has different shared text for the week. Ask your child to who the main character in their story was?  Our grammar focus was nouns. In Maths we are continuing daily number sense, number patterns and we had a focus week on fractions.



Religion
We are learning how we can be like Jesus, in particular through the Season of Lent.  We will explore and pose questions about Jesus and make connections with how we can be like Jesus in our lives.




Unit Work
This week we started our HASS unit Past and Present.  Students explored the meaning of these words and how a timeline works.  We have asked students to inquire about these topics and collect things from home that can help us to develop our understand of the past, in order to compare them to the present.  If you are able to send in any amazing treasures it will be greatly appreciated.

Week 3 News

Things to remember:

This week marks the beginning of the Season of Lent.  As a school we will be supporting Caritas during this time.  It will begin on Shrove Tuesday and we ask all children to bring a donation for Caritas in return for a pancake.
