End of Term 2

 
I can't believe we are half way through this learning year!  First Semester has been so much fun!  I can't wait to see what learning adventures 2Navy will take on next Semester!

Week 9 News

This week in 2 Navy:

Workshops
In reading and writing workshops we are focusing on our reading strategies and questioning and inferencing skills. Daily we are completing writing tasks to build our writing stamina with flash writing. We will use our high 5 hand to check our sentences.  Our grammar focus was Proper Nouns.  Our shared text this week was Alexander's Outing. Ask your child how did they get Alexander out? In Maths we are continuing daily number sense, number patterns and we explored word problems.

Religion
This week we have begun our ways to pray unit!  We will have a prayer focus on Mary and have spent this week exploring who Mary is and the ways we prayer

This week in 2 Navy:

Workshops
In reading and writing workshops we are focusing on our reading strategies and questioning and inferencing skills. Daily we are completing writing tasks to build our writing stamina with flash writing.  We are following a writing process this term to create Information Reports.  This week the children are working on publishing their Information Report about ANZAC. We will use our high 5 hand to check our sentences.  Our grammar focus was statements and questions.  Our shared text this week was Floating and Sinking'. Ask your child to name two things that help us by floating? In Maths we are continuing daily number sense, number patterns and we explored chance.

Religion
This week we have begun our ways to pray unit!  We will have a prayer focus on Mary and have spent this week exploring who Mary is.
 

Unit Work
We have continued to explore how things move through the forces of push and pull.  This week we built, tested and modified paper planes to apply our knowledge of force.

This week in 2 Navy:

Daily we are completing writing tasks to build our writing stamina with flash writing.  We are following a writing process this term to create Information Reports.  This week the children are working on the body and conclusion of our Information Report about ANZAC. We will use our high 5 hand to check our sentences.  Our grammar focus was statements and questions.  Our shared text this week was 'Mr Archimedes Bath'. Ask your child what was the problem in the story? In Maths we are continuing daily number sense, number patterns and we explored length.

Religion
We are learning about the Bible and in particular the stories we find in the Old Testament.  This week we explored the Old Testament Sarah and Abraham from the book of Genesis.  We explored the covenant God made with Sarah and Abraham and the emotions they would have experienced.
 

Unit Work
This week we have begun our Science Unit.  We are exploring how things move through the forces of push and pull.  We will design, test and modify paper planes to apply our knowledge of force.
