This week in 2 Navy:

Workshops
In reading and writing workshops we are focusing on our reading strategies and  the comprehension strategy of asking questions. Daily we are completing writing tasks to build our writing stamina.  Our focus this week is writing a response to a stimulus.  We will use our high 5 hand to check our sentences.  Our shared text this week was a non-fiction text called Tadpole to Frog.  Ask your child what is the lifecycle of a frog? Our grammar focus was verbs.  In Maths we are continuing daily number fact practice, number patterns and exploring word problems.


Religion
In Religion we have begun to explore the Story of Easter and continue a focus on the Liturgical Season of Lent.



Caritas Appeal

We raised $26 this week.  We are on our way to our goal of $75, to help buy a pig for a Philippine family.  Please help us to reach our goal. Thank you for your generosity. 



Unit Work
We have continued to explore lifecycles this week, in particular we have been comparing and contrasting the lifecycle of a human to the lifecycle of mealworm.  The children will observe mealworms within the classroom, as they move through their lifecycle and record their observations.

This week in 2 Navy:

Daily we are completing writing tasks to build our writing stamina.  Our focus this week is writing a response to a stimulus.  We will use our high 5 hand to check our sentences.  Our shared text this week was a non-fiction text called The life of a Butterfly  .  Ask your child to tell you three facts they learnt about a butterfly? Our grammar focus was verbs.  In Maths we are continuing daily number fact practice, number patterns and exploring the concept of 2 digit addition.


Religion
We have continued to explore ways we can be stewards of God's Creation.  We reflected on how and why we can be stewards.

The last week of this Term I will be taking one week of Long Service Leave.  Due to my absence, I will be having Showcase Night on Wednesday the 22nd of March from 3pm - 4pm, in the classroom.  The afternoon will run the same as a normal Showcase evening.  Remember this is a time to view your child's wonderful learning. If you would like to discuss their learning please contact me to organise an appropriate time.  I understand that this may not suit everyone and to allow for an evening session, the classroom will be open on Wednesday the 29th of March as per the rest of the school.

Week 7 News

This week in 2 Navy:

Workshops
In reading and writing workshops we are focusing on our reading strategies and retell skills. Daily we are completing writing tasks to build our writing stamina.  Our focus this week was adding adjectives to make our writing sparkle.  We will use our high 5 hand to check our sentences.  Our shared text this week was a non-fiction text called The Life of a Duck.  Ask your child to tell you three facts they learnt about a duck? Our grammar focus was verbs.  In Maths we are continuing daily number fact practice, number patterns and exploring the concept of 2D shapes.



Religion
We have begun to look at ways we can be stewards of God's Creation.  Ask your child ways in which they can care for all of God's Creations.

Week 6 News

This week in 2 Navy:

Workshops

Daily we are completing writing tasks to build our writing stamina.  Our focus this week was adding adjectives to make our writing sparkle.  We will use our high 5 hand to check our sentences.  Our shared text this week was Pamela Allen favourite 'Fat Ferdie'.  Ask your child what did Ferdie end up eating? Our grammar focus was adjectives.  In Maths we are continuing daily number fact practice, number patterns and exploring the concept of time.

Religion
We continue to build on our understanding of who God is and what creation means to me for our Stewardship of Creation Unit.  We will reflect our understanding this week through illustration and prayer.

We have also begun our Caritas Appeal for 2017.  The children and I have set a goal of $75 to help buy a pig for a Philippine family.  Please help us to reach our goal. Thank you for your generosity.
