Arriving Late

Unfortuantley Prep White has a number of chidren who are constantly arriving to school late.  Can you please try to have your child at school no later than 8.35am, as they are missing the beginning of each day and learning is occuring.  If you are late on occassions, can you please take your bag tag to the office to sign in.  Bag tags are to stay on your chidl's bag at all times.

Thank you for your support.

Sight Words

We ask that you do not mark the children's sight word books.  We will mark the books each week.  Could you please ensure to continually go over all the popcorn words, even the ones that are marked as known, as children forget very quickly.  Thank you for your cooperation.  Popcorn words will not be checked after week 7.  We encourage you to continue working with your child throughout the holidays, to ensure they remember the words at the beginning of Year 1!

 Workshops
Our big book this week was Pig the Pug.  Ask your child what happened to Pig? In reading and writing workshops we have explored the 'ug' and 'an' word families and phonologically, we are learning to blend our letters to make new sounds.  We will have a strong focus on this skill for the remainder fo the year. The children will refer to this as using our Chunky Monkey, to help sound out (decode) and write words.  In Maths workshops we are learning about the number 4 and its name (four). Our investigation this week has been based on the story 'One is a Snail and Ten is a Crab'.  The children will investigate the language of addition and how small numbers can be used to make larger numbers.

Religion

This week we started to explore the Infancy Narraitve from the Gospel of Matthew.  We have spent time looking at the key characters and events.  We will make a christmas card to show our learning from the Gospel of Matthew.

Unit Work

This week we shared our special celebration photos.  The children named the celebration, explained something they did on the day and why it was important to their family.

Our Value this week is hope.
