Week 5 News

Our Library is under renovation.  As a result we are unable to have our normal Library Lesson at this time.  Please note that Library borrowing will also be postponed until further notice.

Brain Break

Could you please make sure that all brain break is labelled with your child's name.  We have a constant battle with Bananas.  Please send all brain break in a marked container, ziplock bag or with their name written on the skin of the fruit.  Thank you for your support.

Sight Words

We ask that you do not mark the children's sight word books.  We will mark the books each week.  Could you please ensure to continually go over all the popcorn words, even the ones that are marked as known, as children forget very quickly.  Thank you for your cooperation.

St Bernardine's Wellness Week

Next week is St B's inaugural Wellbeing week.  What does this mean?  Well for the students (and parents) there will be no homework.  It also means some alternative lessons are being taught compared to traditional lessons.  Activities such as meditation, mindfulness and fun will occur! On the 18th of May we will celebrate St Bernardine's Day.  We begin with a whole school Mass in Siena at 9am.  All are welcome.  It is a Free Dress Day with a gold coin donation.  On the day a sausage sizzle and ice block will be provided by the school for lunch.  There will also be a Nexus Arts performance during the day for all students.

Workshops

This week our big book in reading workshops was The Farm Concert.  Ask your child why couldn't the farmer sleep?  In reading and writing workshops we have explored the letters l and b and phonologically, we are learning to rhyme production.  In Maths workshops we are learning about the number 4 and its name (four) and we are our 3D shapes. Our concept this week has been sorting.

Unit Work

This week we continued to work on our Raiforst Habitat.  We discussed where in the Rainforest Habitat a parrot and snake would live and what they eat.  We are discussing that habitats are animals homes and they give them food, water and shelter.

Religion

In Religion this Term we are exploring the parts of a Church.  This week we finished our display  and built a Church as a class.  (see Twitter for Photos)

Our Value this week is courage.
