Week 2 News

Our Library is under renovation.  As a result we are unable to have our normal Library Lesson at this time.  Please note that Library borrowing will also be postponed until further notice.  In order to get the Junior Fiction section of our Library ready we ask that you return your child's library book.  Sorry for the confusion and thank you for your understanding.

Book Club

Book Club has been handed out and the due date for all orders is the 29th of April.  All ordering is done online through the Loop system.

ANZAC  DAY

On Monday April 25, as a school, we will once again participate in the ANZAC Day march. We therefore invite any interested students who are willing to march and represent the school to please gather on ANZAC Day in full school uniform with HAT. We advise that sunscreen should be applied prior to attending the march.
At 9.45am, we will meet on the grassed area at Blackwell Street, just near the Greenbank RSL. We will then lead the march at 10.00am and participate in the memorial service which will begin at 10.30am, at the completion of the march. The service will conclude no later than 11.00am. We would love as many students as possible to come along and march as we remember those who have served our country in the armed forces. We look forward to seeing you all there.

Sight Words

We ask that you do not mark the children's sight word books.  We will mark the books each we when we work with the children each week.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Workshops

This week our big book in reading workshops was 'Who will be my Mother?  Ask your child what popcorn words we found in our shared text?  In reading and writing workshops we have explored the letter g and phonologically, we are learning to detect rhyme.  In Maths workshops we are learning about the number 1 and its name (one) and we are exploring 3D Shapes.  This week we continued to look for cubes and spheres in our environment.  Our concept this week for meaurement was Capacity.

Unit Work

This week we dove into our first Habitat - the Ocean!  The children helped to make and design an ocean habitat in our room.  We also investigated our first animal, a fish.  We discussed where it lives in the habitat and what it eats.

Religion

We havecontinued to explore the Parable of 'The Ten Leppers' and discussed the message of the story is to be thankful.  We have also discussed that is important to include others and to not make others feel left our or less important, which is how Leppers felt in Jesus' day.   We roled played how to include others and what we could do if we felt excluded.

Our Value this week is Gratitude.
