Week 7 News

Important Dates - Mark your Calendar

Monday March 21st is our Cross Country, more information will be given closer to the day.

Wednesday the 23rd of March is Celebration of Learning Evening.  It begins at 6pm and finishes at 7pm in the classroom.  On this night you will have a checklist to complete with your child, so they can show you and explain this Term's learning.  This night is NOT a time to meet with me and discuss how your child is going.  If you would like to do that please email me a time that suits you.

Workshops

This week our big book in reading workshops was 'It's my Bread?'  Ask your child who ate the bread?  In reading and writing workshops we have explored the letters C/K and phonologically, we are learning about syllables.  In Maths workshops we are learning about the number 7, AB patterns and we are revising all the shapes we have explored.  Our concept this week was collecting data.

Unit Work

This week we continue our family unit and we are exploring whose family is the same or different to our own.  This week we started exploring features of our home and why our homes are special to us!

Religion

In daily prayer we are learning about how to prayer and we are using the creation story to make thank you prayers.  Our unit work has been focusing on making good and bad choices, as we explore the parable of 'The Good Samaritan'.

Our Value this week is Honesty.

Project Compassion

As part of Lent our school takes part in Project Compassion.  We ask the children to donate money to help others less fortunate then themselves.  We have a box on our prayer table that the children will be asked to place their donation in. Each week the Year 6 leaders will collect our box and count our donations.  We have a poster beside our door to mark how much money our class has raised.  Each week I will tweet a photo update of our total.  Lent is about giving and Project Compassion helps to give back to our world.  Each week they will hear a story about how the money will help other people in our world.  We ask they children to help with chores at home to be able to collect money to donate.  Your donations are greatly appreciated.  We would love to reach our new goal of $100 we are only $40 away!

Don't forget to follow us on Twitter @MrsCameronClass  to receive daily photos and updates!

A few reminders:

Science

In Science this term, we are exploring different types of materials by describing objects found in our homes.  We are exploring different rooms in our homes and the different types of objects (materials) we can find in each room.  For example, in a bathroom we can find a rubber ducky and it’s material is rubber.  In a kitchen, we can find a wooden spoon and it’s material is wood.

Can you please help your child to find one object to bring in and share with the class.   We will use each item to build our Science Word Wall.

Don't forget to bring in your Treasure Boxes!
