Unfortuantley Prep White has a number of chidren who are constantly arriving to school late.  Can you please try to have your child at school no later than 8.35am, as they are missing the beginning of each day and learning is occuring.  If you are late on occassions, can you please make sure you sign in at the office.

Week 10 News

SHOWCASE NIGHT is Wednesday the 14th of September 6pm-7pm in the classroom!




Unfortunately one of your students has misplace a special braclet.  It has black crocodile skin and white crocodile teeth.  If you could ask your child if the have seen it or if they have mistakingly taken it home could you please return it.  Thank you

Workshops
 Our big book this week was The Farm Concert.  Ask your child why the farmer yelled quiet? In reading and writing workshops we have explored the 'qu' sound and phonologically, we are learning to segement and blend CVC words.  In Maths workshops we are learning about the number 9 and its name (nine). Our investigation this week has been exploring the language of measurement.  Students have used the words heaviest and lightest when comparing objects.

This week we have continued our History and Visual Arts Unit.  We will be exploring the Aboriginal Seasons through art work and the story 'Ernie Dances the Didgeridoo". We will also use Aboriginal Dreamtime Stories to explore using an historical timeline. This week our story was 'How the birds got thier colours'.

Our investigation this week has been about collecting data.  Students had to explore the best way to collect data to answer the inquiry question - 'Who is Prep White's favourite book character?'.  We will answer questions about our Collected Data this week.

 In reading and writing workshops we have explored the oo/oo sound and phonologically, we are learning to segement and blend CVC words.  In Maths workshops we are learning about the number 4 and its name (four). Our investiagtion this week has been about collecting data.  Students had to explore the best way to collect datato answer the inquiry question - 'Who is Prep White's favourite book character?'.





Unit Work


We are working on our English Unit 'Who is it?'  The children choose their own character and wrote three clues.  This week the student's presented their clues and we had the chance to guess 'Who Is It?'. We finsihed our seasons unit by constructing a Postcard of our favourite Season.  Check the Portfolio at the end of the term, to see our wonderful work.



Religion


We have continued our unit Hereos of the Bible.  This week we looked at the story of David and Goliath and why he is a hero in of the Bible.
